TCLC News - September 13, 2026

Howard Young leads worship this Sunday as we reflect on love, reconciliation, and what it means to lay down our lives for one another. Here is your weekly look at Triumphant Cross.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!

Here is a look at what’s happening at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church this week.

A Word for This Week

For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another. Do not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous. Do not be surprised, my brothers and sisters, if the world hates you. We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates a brother or sister is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life residing in him. This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.

1 John 3:11–16 (NIV)

Lord of Love, your Word calls us to pass from death to life by choosing love over hatred and reconciliation over division.

As we enter this week, help us to love one another as Christ loved us.

May our congregation reflect this love in our relationships, our worship, and our witness to the community around us. In Jesus’s name. Amen.

New This Week

This Sunday’s theme of love and reconciliation carries forward from last week. Forgiveness and Love in Conflict and Reconciliation shares Cindy Manning’s sermon from September 6 on Matthew 18:15–18, walking through Jesus’s practical steps for resolving conflict with grace and love.
