TCLC News - June 22, 2026
This week at Triumphant Cross: Pastor Kay returns July 12, Bishop Strickland visits July 26, and Sunday worship with potluck fellowship on June 28.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ!
Here is a look at what’s happening at Triumphant Cross Lutheran Church this week.
A Word for This Week
Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Lord Jesus, you have set us free, not to follow a checklist, but to live in the freedom of grace.
As we begin this week, remind us that the only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.
Free us from the burden of trying to earn what you have already given, and fill us instead with the Spirit’s eagerness for the righteousness that comes from you alone.
May everything we do this week be shaped by that love, in our worship, our fellowship, and our care for one another. Amen.
New This Week
Two new posts are up on the TCLC blog:
Take Up Your Cross: The Hard Work of Following Jesus — A reflection on Sunday’s message from Ms. Sissy, exploring Matthew 10:24-39 and the three readings that frame the cost of discipleship.
Supply Pastor Update: Pastor Kay Returns and Bishop Strickland Visits — The Rev. Kathleen Yates (Pastor Kay) returns July 12 as supply pastor, and Bishop Kevin Strickland of the ELCA Southeastern Synod leads worship on July 26. We continue to pray for Cindy Manning’s TEEM ordination journey.

Prayers for Our Church
We lift the following to God in prayer:
Thursday, June 25
- Prayers for the Church, 6:00 PM — Lord, we gather this evening to lift our congregation before you. Hear the prayers of your people, and let our intercessions rise as incense before your throne. May this time of prayer bind us together and strengthen our trust in your provision.
Sunday, June 28
- Sunday School, 8:45 AM — Lord, send your Spirit to open our hearts and minds as we study your Word together; may all who gather be drawn deeper into the life of faith.
- Worship, 10:00 AM — Gather your people, Lord, and meet us in Word and prayer; may all who worship this Sunday leave strengthened and encouraged in you.
- Fellowship — Potluck, 11:00 AM — We thank you for those who prepare and serve; may our time together around the table deepen our bonds as a community of faith and reflect your generosity to one another.
Ongoing Prayers
- Pray for Pastor Kay (The Rev. Kathleen Yates) as she prepares to return to TCLC on July 12 — for safe travel and a joyful reunion with this congregation.
- Pray for Bishop Kevin Strickland as he plans his July 26 visit — that his leadership in worship would be a blessing to all who gather.
- Pray for Cindy Manning as she continues her TEEM journey toward ordination — for wisdom, endurance, and the full support of this congregation behind her.
Our address and directions are on our Contact page.
We are grateful for each of you. See you Sunday!
