Forgiven People Forgive People
Our kindness toward others isn't a down payment on God's love; it's a response to a debt Christ has already paid in full. Live today in the freedom of being already forgiven. 🕊️

Read Today’s Verse: Ephesians 4:25-32
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you. — Ephesians 4:32
The Reflection
I often find myself fixated on my own “spiritual performance.” I treat Lent like a moral gym where I try to sweat out my vices and tone my virtues.
However, St. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians shifts our gaze away from our own efforts and back toward the promise of the Gospel. He isn’t giving us a checklist to earn God’s favor; he is describing the natural fruit of a heart that has been truly captured by the Grace of God.
This passage is sharp and clear: “Put away falsehood,” “Let no evil talk come out of your mouths.” When we hold our lives up to this mirror, we see the cracks.
We see the bitterness we’ve nursed and the words we’ve used as weapons. It exposes our deep need for a Savior, revealing that we cannot simply “will” ourselves into holiness. Left to our own devices, we are prone to grieving the Holy Spirit.
But the Gospel, the “Word and Promise,” reaches us precisely where we fail. Paul reminds us that we are “sealed for the day of redemption.” This seal isn’t something we earned by being nice; it is a mark of ownership placed on us by God.
The strength to be tenderhearted and forgiving doesn’t come from our own reserves of willpower. Instead, it flows from the foundational truth that God in Christ has already forgiven you.
Pray with Me
Gracious God, thank You for the promise that Your love is not a reward for my goodness, but a gift for my need.
When my heart is hardened by bitterness, remind me of the tender mercy You showed me at the Cross. Help me to speak words of grace to others, reflecting the peace I have found in Christ.
Amen.
